5 of the Best Hiking Trails You Can Drive to From Orangeburg, SC

Nature lovers know that any excuse to get out in nature is a good excuse. Hiking is a wonderful way to get some exercise and become immersed in nature. Here are 5 of our favorite hiking trails within driving distance of Orangeburg, SC. more Edisto Gardens Loop This is the closest trail to town and is great if you don't have a lot of time to travel. This easy 1-mile trail meanders through Edisto Memorial Gardens. Along your walk, you can enjoy rose bushes, cypress stands, and views of the Edisto River. Be sure to stop at the greenhouse; it is one of the highlights of the park. Oak Pinolley Trail If you want to get out of town for the day, we love Santee State Park. Only about 30 minutes away, this park has tons of trails for both hiking and biking. One of the easiest trails in the park is Oak Pinolley Trail. This out-and-back trail is less than a mile long, making it great for kids or as a warmup before a long hike. Santee Bike Loop At 8 miles, this is the longest and most challenging trail at Santee State Park and is open to both hikers and bikers. It travels through thick pine forests and occasionally gives hikers views of Lake Marian. If 8 miles is too long, there are 2 smaller loops you can take to shorten your hike. If you take the first shortcut, you'll walk about 2.5 miles in total. The second shortcut cuts the trail down to a 5-mile loop. Sinkhole Pond Nature Trail This mile loop takes you to Sinkhole Pond. It passes over several bridges and boardwalks to get to the pond. It's one of the lesser-used trails, so it's great for people who want some solitude on their hike. Bring a map with you and be sure to stay on the main trail. Limestone Nature Trail This short trail is a favorite for wildlife sightings. It's full of beautiful Spanish moss and has a bridge crossing where visitors can see turtles sunning themselves along the lake below. Sometimes alligators can be seen on this trail as well. This is another great trail for kids and families to get out and enjoy nature together. These are the trails we recommend if you're looking to get out hiking in the Orangeburg area. And to get to the trails, we recommend the Kia Sorento. This stylish SUV has enough room for the whole family and all your hiking gear. To test drive the Kia Sorento, come by Burns Kia today! Load up the Car and Head to the Best Burgers in Orangeburg, SC

Orangeburg, SC, is home to some amazing sights, and while this is no secret, you'd be surprised to learn just how good the burgers can be here. Whether you're stuck looking for a quick bite or you're looking for some serious food to cross off your list, this city is home to some of the best burgers you can find. more 1. Chestnut Grill A flat-top doesn't do a burger any real justice, as you won't have any of those precious grill marks that really help the flavor sink in. When you're looking for something done the classic way, Chestnut Grill has you covered with juicy burgers that always have a hint of smoke. When you combine this with their crunchy onion rings as a side, you really can't go wrong. The menu is pretty diverse, so if you find yourself craving a steak or even a warm clam chowder, they've got you covered. This is all rolled into their warm atmosphere that's filled with booths and decorations that are sure to make you feel at home. The grilled pineapple is a real standout as well, as it's perfectly sweet with every bite. 2. Biddie Banquet If you're looking for an old-school feel, Biddie Banquet is surely the place. They've got everything it takes to impress, with their checkerboard coloring and hanging signs. Their menu consists of everything from fried okra to cajun rice, but the burger is the real reason you're here. Equal parts cheap and gigantic, their patties are a marvel, especially when you're ordering the "giant" size. You might not be able to finish it all in one sitting, but it'll only make for another amazing meal somewhere down the road. The sides here are also pretty great, with the apple turnover being a good way to end a savory meal. When you're looking for something a little more fun, you'll want the Kia Sorento, complete with a strong engine and a clean finish. 3. Mama's Kountry Kooking Southern food can be hard to get right as many different restaurants struggle to nail that authentic taste. When it comes to this joint though, they've got the secret recipe for just about everything, including their juicy burgers that are filled to the brim with toppings. When combined with a serving of mac and cheese or the crispy fries, you're sure to leave both satisfied and craving more. They also offer a pretty extensive breakfast menu in case you find yourself struggling for food in the early hours of the morning. What this also means though, is that the eggs and bacon that decorate your burger are sure to be fresh. You won't ever have to worry about dried-out bacon that's been sitting out for hours here, and instead, you'll get the premium experience. A good burger can be a needle in a haystack sometimes, considering so many restaurants offer their signature take. You really can't go wrong with these picks though, and when there are so many to visit, you'll need something that can handle the mileage. Instead, hop in your roomy Kia K5, blast the air-con, and head to one of these great spots for a truly local treat. more Original House of PIzza This could be the town's best spot for pizza: it's a tough call, but this one is definitely in the running. They're located at 591 John C. Calhoun Dr, and they are open from 11am until 9pm Tue-Thur and from 11am until 9:30pm on Fri and Sat. What should you expect here? Awesome service and awesome food. We recommend you try their Greco pizza, the Buff Chick, or the BBQ Chick. You also won't be disappointed in their Hawaiian if you like pineapple. They can also make most of their pizzas into stromboli or calzone if you prefer. They do a really good vegetarian pizza, and they have lots of options for those who don't want pizza (whoever those people are). Try their Super Sub or meatball parmesan. For the kids, you can get pasta, chicken tenders, hamburgers, and more. House of Pizza on Sims Look for this place at 1375 Sims St. They are open from 11am until 9pm most days, but on Friday and Saturday, they stay open until 10pm. Note that while they have done delivery in the past, they can't as of 2022 due to severe staffing shortages. And if you enjoy one of their cocktails, please do so responsibly. Please try their chicken alfredo pizza: it's amazing. We also love the steak combo, which is seasoned beef with mushrooms and bell peppers. The Greek is another unusual and stellar favorite, with ground beef, black olives, bell peppers, tomatoes, onions, and feta cheese. Or, order a calzone with cheese and your choice of any three toppings. Tulio's Pizzeria & Restaurant Tulio's is at 1128 Russell St, and they are open from 11am until 9pm every day but Monday. This is a clean spot with a great atmosphere, good prices, and staff who are attentive to your needs. Pizza is their specialty, but they also do good subs, nice wraps, and some burgers and gyro sandwiches you will definitely want to try one day when you're not craving pizza. For pizza, though, you should try their Stuffed Meat. It's got pepperoni, sausage, bacon, ham, and beef, and the crust is stuffed with mozzarella and ricotta cheeses. We also can't get enough of their white pizza, which is simple but elegant and amazing.
