Here are 5 of our favorite hiking trails within driving distance of Orangeburg, SC. more Edisto Gardens Loop This is the closest trail to town and is great if you don't have a lot of time to travel. This easy 1-mile trail meanders through Edisto Memorial Gardens. Along your walk, you can enjoy rose bushes, cypress stands, and views of the Edisto River. Be sure to stop at the greenhouse; it is one of the highlights of the park. Oak Pinolley Trail If you want to get out of town for the day, we love Santee State Park. Only about 30 minutes away, this park has tons of trails for both hiking and biking. One of the easiest trails in the park is Oak Pinolley Trail. This out-and-back trail is less than a mile long, making it great for kids or as a warmup before a long hike. Santee Bike Loop At 8 miles, this is the longest and most challenging trail at Santee State Park and is open to both hikers and bikers. It travels through thick pine forests and occasionally gives hikers views of Lake Marian. If 8 miles is too long, there are 2 smaller loops you can take to shorten your hike. If you take the first shortcut, you'll walk about 2.5 miles in total. The second shortcut cuts the trail down to a 5-mile loop. Sinkhole Pond Nature Trail This mile loop takes you to Sinkhole Pond. It passes over several bridges and boardwalks to get to the pond. It's one of the lesser-used trails, so it's great for people who want some solitude on their hike. Bring a map with you and be sure to stay on the main trail. Limestone Nature Trail This short trail is a favorite for wildlife sightings. It's full of beautiful Spanish moss and has a bridge crossing where visitors can see turtles sunning themselves along the lake below. Sometimes alligators can be seen on this trail as well. The alternator is a vital part of your Kia's electrical charging system. It's responsible for producing the electricity your car's systems need. It starts working when you start your engine and only stops when your engine is switched off. In time, like any other mechanical system, your alternator can get damaged. If this happens, your local Kia dealer can likely perform an alternator repair. These are a few signs that your alternator needs repair. more Grinding Noises A grinding or whining noise from your engine can be caused by several different problems. If you're experiencing electrical problems, however, the most likely suspect is a damaged alternator. These particular sounds are usually caused by damaged alternator bearings. Your alternator has four bearings that allow it to move and generate power. The bearings have to be greased to allow them to work effectively. This grease slowly dries out and needs to be replaced during your scheduled car service. If the bearings are dry, this can cause friction and damage. The good news is that our technicians can replace your bearings with new ones. This will prevent the noise and allow your alternator a longer life. Burning Wiring The wiring in your car transmits the electricity from the alternator to all your car's components and devices. The alternator also has wiring inside it. A car's engine is a very hostile environment for wiring, as it's hot and subject to movement and damage. The problem could be caused by the alternator, the battery, or even damaged wiring. The various components of your electrical system have sensors attached to them. These sensors monitor their attached component and send information back to your computer. The sensors also detect problems with a component and report this to your computer. For example, a worn alternator can cause the battery light to come on if its voltage output drops below 12.5 volts. We recommend that you try their fried vegetable spring rolls, or, even better, the fresh Orchid role. That's shrimp, glass noodles, cilantro, scallions, fresh Thai basil, and more wrapped up in rice paper and served with a sweet chili sauce and sesame sauce you just can't stop eating. We also love the hurricane chicken and the red snapper with cashews. Order any of their food at the "Native Thai" spice level if you think you can handle it. Chopstix Orangeburg You'll find this wonderful place for Chinese takeout at 1000A Chestnut St. They open from 11 AM until 9:30 PM Monday through Thursday and from 11 AM until 10 PM on Friday and Saturday. They are closed on Sundays. Give them a call at 803-878-3821 if you want to order takeout and have it ready when you arrive. This is a clean, friendly place you'll definitely visit again. We like everything on their menu, but we're particularly fond of the potstickers, the egg drop soup, and the vegetable spring rolls. We also highly recommend the salt and pepper chicken stirfry with the ham fried rice. Tokyo Grill If Japanese food is what you're interested in, try this spot at 2847 North Rd. They are open from 11 AM until 9 PM every day, and you can call them at 803-878-3066 for takeout. We recommend their edamame, the gyoza, and the delicious hibachi shrimp in particular. Their Value Bowls are served with your choice of steamed or fried rice and come in chicken, shrimp, or steak. They have some sushi offerings as well, though it's best to order that in person when you visit. Expect generous portions for the price, fast service, and hot, fresh food. The staff are very friendly, and there's a decent selection for kids if you have some picky eaters who don't want anything exotic. We love that the spring rolls here are really crispy every time.
